Presidency University is one of India’s oldest colleges. The history traces back to 1817 when a group of Indians and Englishmen set up the Hindoo College. Later, this was taken over by the British and renamed as the College of the Bengal Presidency, later it was placed in under the newly founded Calcutta University. Several 100 years later, it was established as the Presidency University. The college offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree programs as well. The university has now opened admissions for Ph.D. Programme.
Procedure for admission
Only UGC-CSIR NET/UGC NET and NET-LS qualified candidates will be eligible to apply for Ph.D
Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a Master’s degree with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
A relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B as per UGC guidelines.

Ph.D. fees structure
At the time of admission, the fee will cost rupees 2000.
